🎣⛵️ Tranquilo's First Laker Day

Today was a great outing started slow and low-key. One of the previous crew members Shiloh met up in the afternoon and we took a drive out to the sailboat mooring. The goal was to go out and get on some fish while we enjoyed the beautiful Sunday afternoon weather.

Fishing was decent out by Juniper Island, there were a ton of boats out as well with this being the LCI Father's Day Tournament. Thankfully this didn't stop me from jigging up a few nice fish!

Earlier in the day I had a few chases, and two misses but couldn't get any fish. hooked. I was excited to be seeing marks and having success in identifying structure that was holding fish. Later in the afternoon my passenger had to head back, so we motored to the Burlington Community Boat House for drop off. I love this service that Burlington provides, it's so easy to say hello on Channel 74 and get some assistance with docking.

After the dropoff I headed to the other side of the bay, scoping out some new structure that had potential. After a bit of driving around I located a spot that was very, very specific. If you drifted too far out of the sweet spot the fish were gone, but I spent a few hours getting nice drifts over the spot with really low and minimal winds. Absolutely perfect jigging conditions, and then the fish showed up!

The action was as good as the weather, I think I missed three or four and landed at least six or seven nice fish. The biggest was a 27" though it wasn't the hardest fighter. I did have one rip drag all the way to the bottom, so much fun and just one of the best fishing days I've had in a long time.

For the first time in a really long time, it was actually pretty easy to call it a day. I had caught a bunch of really nice fish, I'd found some good spots and I got the fishing sailboat dialed in just that little bit more each good trip out.

Very satisfied and content for the first time in a really long time. Looking forward to getting the boat cleaned up and preparing for the next adventure. Reviewing footage, grabbing stills and beginning to edit the awesome footage I got from today. Watch it on VT2U soon!
